Don't buy this product. Why? Major design problems you should know about: first, the drawers barely open halfway. If you're putting files in here (and it is, after all, a filing cabinet) what this means is that your access to the entire back half of your files is highly restricted – you will have to jam your hand back in there (papercuts, jammed knuckles, anyone?) and try to crunch the back half forward into the front half to access them. Stupid design.

Why does it open only halfway? Because the product is poorly built, cheap materials, and if you open a drawer more than halway – even if the thing is empty – it tips over! That's right, they've built it so cheaply that the thing tips over - that's actually dangerous.

What else? Did you notice there's no photo of the drawers? There's a reason none of the pictures show you the drawers - they're awful. They're made of the same material you see on shanty town roofs, super cheap corrugated aluminum. So, they look awful and cheap, that's not a big deal, right? But corrugated? Yes, that's right - so if your file folders are deep (most file folders have creases in them so you can adjust their depth, meaning the bottom length will change) they will bang against the bottom of this drawer and not sit evenly since this unit's bottom has raised sections in it. Again, really not smart.

Hey, it's only $70, right? Wrong, it's your time, it's a product that doesn't do what you need it to, and you'll end up returning it for a better design, better built unit, and it's a big box to schlep back for a return. That's what we're doing, learn from our mistake.

Good choice to hold documents in a home office. Came assembled and just required screwing in the handles. No wheels, which is no big deal to me, and the bottommost drawer does not lock. Sturdy enough to put stuff on top of it without any worries, but not super tough-- if someone really wanted into the top drawers and had the right tools, they could get in, but they'd likely have to damage the cabinet to do it. No nicks or scratches when it came in the mail. One note: if this arrives and you just can't find where the keys are, tip the cabinet over a little, shaking the very bottom of the cabinet. My keys fell out when I did that.

I wanted a small filing cabinet to organize my house and get all documents in one place.

I read alot of reviews for different cabinets similar to this one.

I finally chose this one because it had the added smaller drawer above the two main drawers.

This is by no means like a heavy duty filing cabinet that you would find in a professional office setting.

However, it is well made and more sturdy than even I thought it would be.

Drawers slide easily and were plenty deep for my needs.

Though I don't use the lock, it is a nice feature as well.

Keys were on the lock mechanism inside the top drawer.

Provided you know how to properly balance a filing cabinet (heavier things in the bottom), you should have no problem.

I use Amazon Hanging File Folders and Smead Manila File Folders with this cabinet.

So far, this filing cabinet is perfect for what I needed and I am very glad I purchased it.

To me, it is a good value for the money.

I really this file cabinet. Fits perfectly under my desk. Only assembly are the handles which was done on minutes. Shipping was quicker than announced and arrived undamaged. The drawers by the way do open more than half. I think they do not open completely out of safety reasons so the unit will not tilt. No complaints!

The cabinet arrived and although the packing was undamaged, the back of the cabinet was dented. I was ill at the time and did not have the energy to get it repacked and returned. I contacted the company by email and let them know of the state of the item at arrival. They asked me to send them some pictures and they were sent. By then I had noticed that the dents did not affect the closure of the drawers and the cabinet was still useable, particularly for my purpose as it was meant to go inside a closet so the dents would not be visible anyway. The company offered me a $ 25 refund which I accepted. It seemed a fair deal to me. The company was quick and approachable and dealt with the matter well, in my opinion. It did not really surprise me that the dents occurred, it is a cheap cabinet and it would be silly to expect anything more. That said, it is very much what I expected and will keep my paperwork nicely in order and out of sight. The drawer on top is very useful and the larger drawers are good for larger files. I would recommend the company.

The "steel" cabinet had a good price but wasn't as solid and strong as we expected. We found a more solid one for just $20 more, so b=ought that one instead. Our complaint in with the return policy. We blame AAA-Perfect, not Hirsh Industries for that. After notifying them that we wanted to return the item, we received a form letter saying they will send a Return Shipping Label "in 2-3 days". It never happened! Our follow up emails yielded the same results: a form letter sayiing they're "working on a return label". Finally after filling out a complaint form from Amazon.com we received the label - no apologies, no instructions how to ship it back, just the label for USPS. Warning: if you purchase this product, don"t destroy the box - you'll need it if you want to return the product.

After owning this product for almost a year, I can tell u that I regret purchasing this filing cabinet. At first it seemed fine; a good value, good storage, simple, clean looking, and a nice little extra drawer on top.

As soon as u full this cabinet with files and papers, the drawer glides become very difficult to open and close. They are just low quality, and can't handle much weight at all. In fact, pulling on a drawer that is more than half full of files and papers, will result in the entire cabinet sliding. I wish I could return this cabinet.
